The third installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy series is still a couple of years away, set to hit theaters in 2023, but that hasn’t stopped fans from theorizing what or whom they may see outside of the confirmed cast. Director James Gunn recently addressed several questions including one on a character that most definitely WON’T appear in Vol. 3.
It shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise considering the last time we saw Yondu (Michael Rooker), he had a front-row seat to his own Ravenger Funeral in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. However, as we know, death isn’t always permanent in the MCU, however, this one seems to be. In addition, Gunn confirmed, “OG Groot” is not coming back either.
That doesn’t mean there won’t be plenty of familiar faces, including “Baby Groot”… or would it be “Teenage” Groot by now? Either way, “non-OG” Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel) will be there, as will Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax The Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Mantis (Pom Kiementieff), and Rocket (Bradley Cooper).
