The ‘Winds of Winter’ may still be a long way to publication but that doesn’t mean author George R.R. Martin isn’t keeping busy.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Martin and HBO have inked a new five-year contract worth somewhere in the “mid-eight figures” and it will keep him heavily involved in the plethora of Game of Thrones prequels on the horizon at the network.
This is great news for the fans of the Game of Thrones television franchise which ended its original run nearly two years ago. However, if you’re an avid book reader, this may extend the wait even longer for the release of the ‘Winds of Winter’. Currently, HBO has six prequels in the works with Martin set to play a role in each of them. Martin first connected with HBO in 2007 when he sold the rights to ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ to the network for series development. It only turned into one of the most successful series of all time.
