Marvel’s What If…? is officially part of the canon.
**Loki Spoilers are included in this post**
One of the biggest questions with the announced What If…? series from Marvel was how it would fit with the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. While it is fun to explore these hypothetical situations, fans wondered if they would just be imaginary scenarios or if they would somehow weave in with the existing MCU. That question has now been answered.
In an interview with IGN, What If…? head writer AC Bradley confirmed that everything we will see in the show is considered canon: “The events of What If…? are canon. It’s part of the MCU multiverse. The multiverse is here. it is real, and it absolutely fantastic people.”

The events of the Loki finale set up the multiverse within the MCU. With Sylvie killing He Who Remains, the sacred timeline has seen many branches and the multiverse is fully opened. What If…? is now confirmed to be impacted by the creation of the multiverse. It will join Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and (likely) Spiderman: No Way Home in exploring the reaches of the multiverse.
Get ready for characters like Captain Britain Peggy Carter and Star-Lord T’Challa to be canon in the MXU. We will have to watch along with Uatu the Watcher when the show drops on August 11th. Check out the full trailer below.
