America’s ‘Favorite Serial Killer’ returns as Michael C. Hall is set to reprise his role of Dexter Morgan in Dexter season 9.
After nearly eight years off the air, Michael C. Hall is set to reprise his role as Dexter Morgan, ‘America’s favorite serial killer’, in season 9 of Dexter, a limited series from Showtime.
The revival was first announced in October of 2020 to much excitement as the finale left fans, critics, and even Hall himself with a very sour taste in their mouths. Dexter originally debuted in 2006 and ran through 2013. The original run of the series ended with Dexter faking his own death, leaving his son Harrison behind. The limited series, much like the original run, will have a 10 episode order.

Alano Miller – Logan
When Does Dexter Season 9 Premiere?
Dexter season 9 officially returns on November 7th, 2021 at 9 pm EST on Showtime. The reboot will run for 10 weeks.
Dexter Season 9 Basics
The show is set 10 years in the future from the end of season 8. Dexter, A.K.A Jim Lindsey lives in the fictional town of Iron Lake, NY, and works at ‘Fred’s Fish and Game’ based on some of the teaser trailers released so far. Kurt Caldwell, played by Clancy Bishop, is said to be the unofficial mayor of Iron Lake and the main protagonist to Dexter.
Back From The Dead? Deborah Morgan, Trinity Killer To Appear
Interestingly enough, some of the reprisals outside of Dexter that have been reported come from two actors whose characters were killed off during the original series. First, Jennifer Carpenter, A.K.A Deborah Morgan is set to return to the series in some capacity. Dexter’s sister was killed off during season 8 so a real-time appearance is not realistic. Most likely, Deb will be involved in some sort of flashback scene or perhaps she takes on the role of Dexter’s father and comes to him in his head.
Even more interesting is the return of arguably Dexter’s greatest nemesis (besides his demons), the Trinity Killer. Again, much like Deborah, the Trinity Killer, played by John Lithgow, was killed off during the original run. Arthyr Mitchell met his demise during season 4 of the show, a season many believe to be the peak of the original run. Once again, like Deborah, Trinity would likely appear in some sort of vision or flashback considering he’s been dead for nearly 15 years in ‘Dexter Time’.
Is Harrison Morgan Involved?
When we last left Dexter, he left his biological son, Harrison with Hannah McKay, romantic interest and fellow serial killer, following the death of his sister and right before he faked his own death. In the Dexter timeline, Harrison would be a teenager during present time and could be the connection that brings Dexter out of hiding. Showtime certainly seemed to hint that Harrison’s story isn’t quite finished when they tweeted the famous line Dexter once told infant Harrison… “Daddy kills people”.
