Squid Game will return for a season two.
One of the biggest hits in Netflix’s history has a season two in the works. At a Q&A event in Los Angeles, creator Hwang Dong-hyuk confirmed that another season of Squid Game is in the plans (h/t Variety). While Netflix has not commented on a second season being confirmed, Hwang made comments on the red carpet about a second season:
“There’s been so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season. So I almost feel like you leave us no choice! But I will say there will indeed be a second season. It’s in my head right now. I’m in the planning process currently.”

Squid Game became the #1 show on Netflix and one of the biggest pop-culture phenomena in recent memory back in September. According to documents obtained by Bloomberg, the show has made Netflix almost $900 million. The show focuses on a deadly set of games being played by Koreans in deep financial straits for a chance at a 45.6 billion Won prize. Each game is a version of a childhood game like marbles, Red Light Green Light, or tug-of-war.
While we have no timetable for its return, Squid Game season 2 is sure to be one of Netflix’s biggest ever releases. Whenever it drops, we’ll be ready for it.
