The IMAX experience is being brought to the MCU at home.
It is time to get the IMAX theatre experience at home. On November 12, Disney+ is debuting 13 MCU movies in the IMAX Expanded Aspect Ratio. The ratio is closer to the 16:9 ratio of most TVs, and “offers up to 26% more picture for select sequences” according to a statement from Disney. Here’s the list of MCU movies getting the IMAX treatment:
- Iron Man
- Captain America: Civil War
- Guardians of the Galaxy
- Doctor Strange
- Black Panther
- Thor: Ragnarok
- Guardians of the Galaxy 2
- Avengers: Infinity War
- Ant-Man & The Wasp
- Captain Marvel
- Avengers: Endgame
- Black Widow
- Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings
This is also the debut of Shang-Chi on the streaming service. Shang-Chi was a surprise smash for Marvel, with a gross of $340 million worldwide. Now fans can watch Shang-Chi, Katy & the dramatic return of Trevor from their homes.

Michael Paull, President of Disney+, said in a statement: “We’re thrilled to create new value for Marvel fans and audiences on Disney+, and we’re looking forward to offering even more IMAX Enhanced functionality in the future.”
So while they can’t bring you movie theatre popcorn, Disney+ is trying to bring you more of the theatre experience. Does this mean it’s time for another MCU rewatch? That’s for you to decide!
