Spider-Man No Way Home has released a new trailer with no new Spider-Men in sight.
At this point, we all know that Spider-Man No Way Home will be a multiverse film. Tom Holland’s Peter Parker will be going toe-to-toe with famous villains from previous versions of the franchise. The last trailer gave us a good look at Alfred Molina’s Dr. Octopus. This trailer gives us even more information and looks at Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, Thomas Haden Church’s Sandman, and Jamie Foxx’s Electro. Check out the trailer below, and a breakdown under that.
Turns out the spell that Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) tried to have everyone forget that Peter Parker was Spider-Man had some unintended consequences. Villains from other universes have infiltrated Earth-616, and they need to stop them. We get an extended shot of Doc Ock fighting Spider-Man and realizing this isn’t his Peter Parker.
We learn from Strange that all of these villains die fighting Spider-Man in their own universe. That’s supposed to be their fate. Spider-Man wants to find ways to capture them without killing them, but Strange tells him there is no other way. We then get clear shots of Electro (who is no longer blue!) and Green Goblin (who is terrifying as always). A big battle seems to be at the Statue of Liberty being redone to either include Cap’s shield or be of Steve Rogers. Spider-Man has to save MJ as she falls, bearing an uneasy resemblance to the fate of Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy from Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man.

Speaking of Garfield, there are no signs of him or Tobey Maguire in the trailer. There is a moment at the end where Strange says people are “coming through” and we don’t see them. This could be the introduction of the Spider-Men, but there were no real tells about their participation. Marvel Studios has been adamant they won’t be involved, but we know better right fans?
We’ll have to wait until the actual movie to see if we get all three Spideys. Spider-Man No Way Home releases December 17, 2021.
