The long-awaited fourth season of Netflix’s Stranger Things is just over three months away as the streaming service announced the show will return on May the 27th.
Not only that, the season will be split up into two parts with the second half premiering a mere six weeks later on July 1st. That date, coincidentally, marks the three-year anniversary of the premiere of season three. So fans have been waiting quite a while for this moment.
Stranger Things Season 4 Premiere
It has been nearly three years since we have seen Mike, Dustin, Lucas, Will, and Eleven in a new set of episodes but the wait is finally over. Netflix is set to premiere the fourth season in two parts consisting of nine episodes. The runtime of each episode is said to be far greater than what fans are accustomed to.
“With nine scripts, over eight-hundred pages, almost two years of filming, thousands of visual effects shots, and a runtime nearly twice the length of any previous season, Strange Things 4 was the most challenging season yet, but also the most rewarding one,” said the creators of the show.
The first part will premiere on Netflix on May 27th. Just a few weeks later on July 1st, the second part of season 4 will premiere.
Season Synopsis
Via Netflix:
“It’s been six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins. Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends are separated for the first time – and navigating the complexities of high school hasn’t made things any easier. In this most vulnerable time, a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces, presenting a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down.”

Stranger Things Will End With Season 5
Among the tidbits of news we got with the release of the upcoming season, we now know when the series will ultimately conclude. According to the show creators, the series will conclude with season five, bringing an end to perhaps Netflix’s most important franchise.
“Seven years ago, we planned out the complete story arc for ‘Stranger Things.’ At the time, we predicted the story would last four to five seasons,” said the Duffer Brothers. “It proved too large to tell in four but — as you’ll see for yourselves — we are now hurtling toward our finale.”
