Here is everything we know about Alice in Borderland Season 2 including the returning cast members and the potential release date on Netflix.
Following the premiere of ‘Alice in Bordlerland’, the Japanese live-action series based on the graphic novel (manga) by Hara Aso, in 2020 on Netflix, the series received a prompt renewal which seems destined to arrive in December of 2022.
The first season of Alice in Borderland follows Arisu (Kento Yamazaki), an early 20s jobless underachiever and avid gamer from a well-off Japanese family. Arisu, and his best friends Chota and Karube, are pulled into an alternate version of Tokyo, Japan, and forced to compete in a series of sadistic games in order to collect cards to, hopefully, return home. Both Chota and Karube pay the ultimate sacrifice early and Arisu ultimately must continue the journey by himself.
As Arisu embarks on his own, he meets others such as Usagi (Tao Tsuchiya), a daughter of a famous rock climber and quite the athlete herself. Forming a bond the two progress through various games and learn more about this alternate Tokyo including the meaning of the playing cards and the discovery of the Beach, an oasis of sorts for many more players of the game. Ultimately, tensions rise at The Beach to the point where season one ends with the building being burnt down, many residents dead, and the release of the face cards into the game.
Based on the source material, season one covered roughly half of the entire graphic novel.

When Does Season 2 of ‘Alice in Borderland’ Premiere on Netflix?
Season 2 of Alice in Borderland should arrive on Netflix in December of 2022 making it a full two years since the release of season one on December 10th, 2020. Now, the date has not yet been confirmed and there is no official trailer but Netflix did release a renewal announcement trailer in early 2021. In addition, filming reportedly began in July of 2021 and reportedly wrapped in December of 2021 but given the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, an early 2022 release seemed unlikely.
Who is returning for Season 2 of Alice in Borderland?
So far, the shows main leads Kento Yamazaki (Arisu) and Tao Tsuchiya (Usagi) are confirmed to return for season two. In addition, Aya Asahina (Kuina), Ayaka Miyoshi (Ann Rizuna), Nijiro Murakami (Chishiya), and Riisa Naka (Mira) have also been confirmed for season two, according to IMDB.
Where Can You Watch Alice In Borderland Season 1?
Naturally, given that it is a Netflix exclusive show, the only way to view season one of Alice in Borderland is on the streaming platform. However, since we are still several months from the premiere of season two, there is plenty of time to binge last season and catch things you may have missed. Of course, you could always go right to the source and check out the manga.
