In the trailer, we see Max mourning her brother Billy and the tension that has grown among the group. Set to a creepy, slowed down version of Journey’s Separate Ways, a mysterious voice echoes a message that they have “broken everything” and their “suffering is coming to an end”. We see that, presumably, Max begins to get powers while Eleven struggles to get hers back.
In addition, we see more of Hopper and the circumstances in which he has been in a Russian prison camp since the end of season three. And finally, it seems as though we get a glimpse as the newest “monster” facing the the group.
Stranger Things 4 Synopsis (via Netflix)
It’s been six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins. Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends are separated for the first time—and navigating the complexities of high school hasn’t made things any easier. In this most vulnerable time, a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces, presenting a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down.
Stranger Things Season 4 stars Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp, Gatan Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, David Harbour, Joe Keery, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, and Winona Ryder. It was written by co-creators Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer. The Duffer Brothers, in addition to Shawn Levy, are credited as directors for the upcoming season.
