Disney is making us wait a bit longer for more Marvel films in 2022.
It was announced that five different Marvel movies have had their release dates pushed back. The next MCU film, The Eternals, was not part of the delay. It will continue to be released on November 5th in theatres. Also not in the set of delays is Spider-Man: No Way Home, which is still scheduled to release in theatres on December 17 of this year.
When shifting the Marvel movies, Disney just bumped them back to the date that the next movie was meant to release. The moved films include Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness moving from March 25, 2022, to May 6, 2022. Thor’s return in Thor: Love and Thunder moves from May 6th, 2022 to July 8th, 2022. Our return to Wakanda in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has moved from July 8th, 2022 to November 11, 2022. The Marvels, with Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, and Photon, moves from November 11, 2022, to February 17, 2023. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania moves from February 17, 2023, to July 28, 2023.

Two untitled Marvel movies were also removed from the schedule. Those had been listed for July 28, 2023, and October 6, 2023, respectively.
The releases are related to production delays, not to box office performance. Disney and Marvel had a big hit recently with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, so they’re not worried about how the films will fare at the box office.

Also getting moved by Disney is the fifth installment of Indiana Jones. Originally scheduled for July 29, 2022, it will move to June 30, 2023. The delay may be in part due to an injury to star Harrison Ford. The 79-year-old injured his shoulder in June, causing a delay in the filming of his scenes.
